No. All NY notary exams are walk-in only — there is no registration or appointment. Arrive at least 30 minutes before the session time; seating is first-come, first-served.
Bring government-issued photo ID and the $15 exam fee (check or money order payable to the Department of State — cash and cards are not accepted). Phones must be off during the exam.
You need 70% on a multiple-choice exam covering New York notary law. Results arrive by email in about 2–3 weeks; a passing slip is valid for 2 years.
